The view down our drive at 8:00 AM today:
The 2011 December solstice takes place on Thursday, December 22 at 5:30 Universal Time. That’s Thursday, December 22 at 12:30 a.m. Eastern Standard Time.

From here, the days get longer:

Doesn't that make your day a little brighter?
Happy solstice!
(Especially if you live in the northern hemisphere.)

  1. Yes, happy solstice Valerie! I like the darkness so I'm always at my best on winter solstice.

  2. I love the view down your driveway. It's like a Gothic painting, appropriate for the winter soltice. Very beautiful.

  3. Tine for old Sol to wrestling a bit more daylight from the moon and stars, a timeless battle of light and dark.
Although there is so much beauty in the night, cold as it may be.
Your pics are lovely, the valley has gotten a lot of fog lately but here at higher elevation it's been sunny, dry and cold. Looking forward that pattern is about to change!
Have a lovely solstice and holiday!

Yes... just when I think, "The days *can't* get any shorter"... They won't! :-)

    Blessings, Val
